“Nation’s Top Teacher Drops Resignation Bomb: ‘I Can’t Drill ’em and Kill ’em'”

How would you like to be a middle school or high school special-needs student who is going to be tested on material many college students would struggle with? Well, as the following article/video reveals, this is what ‘Common Core’ is perpetrating on these and other public school students:

Nation’s Top Teacher Drops Resignation Bomb: “I Can’t Drill ’em and Kill ’em”

An award-winning, nationally recognized teacher gave a “mic-dropping” speech that ends with the announcement of her teaching resignation at Elyria, OH public schools.

Stacie Starr was not just any teacher, however. She was the number one finalist in 2014’s “Live with Kelly and Michael” ‘Top Teacher’ award, a people’s choice and enviable contest of sorts. It’s like the “American Idol” for teacher contestants, and it drove her into the national limelight. This prompted many news segments to ask her how it felt to win that kind of recognition. In multiple pieces you can see her getting tearfully choked up at the honor, and calling it one of the greatest days of her entire life. Furthermore, she did not simply download information into her learning-disabled, at-risk students – she taught them how to think. That is why she was recognized!

That was near the end of the 2013-2014 school year, so for her to announce her resignation the following year, nowhere near retirement age, is astonishing and enough to make the greater majority of people to say, “what gives?” In the speech below, she will tell you exactly what gives.

But more than that, this speech is utterly heart wrenching because it erupts in tears of another kind.

Earlier this month, Starr was merely to provide information at a Lorain County Education Forum about PARCC testing as it relates to special education students. PARCC is the Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers, a coalition of states that is using the test to drive Common Core by assessing students (and teachers) to see how “up to par” they are on the new, fast-paced and nonsensical programming.

What is even more insidious, is that special needs students have been left out of the mix to fall by the wayside. By that I mean, while they are normally allowed to have helps for their disability (like having the test read aloud), they are not allowed any such thing with PARCC. Which means that PARCC is acting outside and above the law with a “survival of the fittest” standard. Starr demonstrates the irony of all the children becoming “left behind” in this new system.

Hear the disturbing account of Robert Oppenheimer, the Manhattan Project, A-Bomb, and Truman’s decision to bomb questions being used for 9th grade reading! She also shows how PARCC and Common Core will contribute to the school-to-prison pipeline. She explains what happens when you ask a modern student a question – “they can. not. think. for themselves.” (emphasis added)

Please take the time to listen to this video. I know the quality is poor, but what this woman, this teacher, has to say about the education system is so important for parents, in particular, to hear.

Note that this woman is not quitting teaching, she is quitting this dead system of education:

Starr spoke of her reasons for leaving teaching, saying:

“I can’t do it anymore, not in this ‘drill ‘em and kill ‘em’ atmosphere,” adding, “I don’t think anyone understands that in this environment if your child cannot quickly grasp material, study like a robot and pass all of these tests, they will not survive.”

Starr was not alone, though. At the public event where she announced her intention to resign at the end of the school year, other teachers from Elyria High School voiced their skepticism about new teaching standards and the contemplations of resigning.

There always seems to be a new ‘method of teaching,’ with a new catchphrase, coming down the pike. And this new teaching method/catchphrase is always lifted up as the next savior of this insane and inept public-education system. When I was teaching, the catch phrase was ‘At Risk Child,’ a decade later, it was ‘No Child Left Behind,’ and now, it is ‘Common Core’. What all of this educational meandering, here and there, has always amounted to is nothing but political propaganda intended to soothe and patronize the pissed off public, especially the pissed off blacks and other minorities. All of this political bullshit, masquerading as concern for our children, has always been nothing more than a smokescreen, which hides a very secretive and devious agenda that has been concocted by the evil powers that be.

Before Brown vs Board of Education, the public education system was not broken, but it was segregated and extremely racist, and so in need of a very big fix. So I am not suggesting that this system of education was once perfect, because it wasn’t! And desegregation needed to be implemented in such a way as to insure equality in the classroom for all children.

But the way the government handled desegregation was, as usual, ineffective from the start; which is how, I believe, the government had intended it to be. My guess is that ‘busing’ was the first stage in a long-term plan to dumb-down middle-class and poor Merican children, and thus increase the division/hatred that existed, and still exists, between whites and blacks, as well as increase the income gap between the wealthy elite and the middle-class and poor: I believe ‘busing’ was the beginning of the ‘from classroom to prison’ system of ‘education’ that is being perpetrated on our children today. Public schools, at least for blacks, are no longer feeders for the universities and ‘trade schools’ (as if there are still ‘trades’ in this country), they are feeders for the only true industry Merica has left: prisons. And more and more, this is not just true for minority students, it has also become true for white students as well. I guess we finally are going to get some equality in the classroom after all?

‘If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it,’ is a simple enough adage, as is ‘Measure twice, cut once’. But common sense is not one of the attributes found in most social workers, education professors, psychologists, politicians and many political activists. The Merican education system, after world war two, was in need of a major repair (segregation), but it was not broken otherwise. Yes, there were public-school systems that were completely broken, like The Bronx schools, in New York City, but they were few and far between. What was truly in need of being addressed and fixed, was racist segregation, and not the curriculum and teaching methods.

So what did this piece of shit government do? This piece of shit government, instead of truly addressing the issue of racism/segregation, in a way that would bring healing and unity, fixed what was not broken, the curriculum and teaching methods, and placed a band-aid (‘busing’) on the tumor that was segregation. The entire left-side of the political spectrum had been allowed to completely rape and pillage an education system that, except for its racist tendencies, had been turning out students who could read, write, compute, analyze, problem-solve and create, and replaced it with an ever-changing, for the worse, system that would eventually turn out the products we have today: stoned, ignorant individuals who can’t read, write compute, analyze, problem-solve or create.

In their rushed and sad attempt to fix the issue of segregation, these left-wing nincompoops had done everything but ‘measure twice and cut once’, in fixing what was ‘not broken’, and it would be the students, including blacks, who would pay the price for these assholes’ left-sided, agenda-driven incompetence, over the next half-century.

Within the first twenty years after Brown vs Board of Education, these left-wing idiots had completely destroyed the Merican education system. And as opposed to solving the premeditated inequality that had existed in the education system, since its beginning, these folks had simply created an education system that would struggle to educate even one student, effectively, no matter his or her race, color or creed. And their sole solution to the problem of segregation, ‘Busing’, had done nothing but enrage both black and white parents: the black parents had no more wanted their children being bused for miles away from home neighborhoods than had the white parents. In other words, busing had been a fiasco, it never even came close to accomplishing what these heads-up-their-ass geniuses had claimed it would, whatever that was? And we, and our children, are still suffering from this political fiasco/fraud!

Today, in the city where I live, we have many schools that are completely segregated again, just the way both white and black parents wanted it. And yet busing, in my city, is no longer in effect, since the government claims that the city did what it needed to do, whatever that was? I see no difference from forty years ago, except that ALL children are now getting educationally screwed: blacks, Hispanics, Asians and whites! Desegregation was a scam, as is ‘multiculturalism’, now.

Everything this piece of shit government has ever promised we the people has been just another manipulative way of sticking IT to us, and as hard and as long as possible! Comprende?

When will we ever wake up and learn?!

The following is a comment by Shelby Courtland. She describes, very effectively, and briefly, the criminal results of this education system:

Of course they don’t want the masses educated. Critical thinking is against their game plan. Dumb them down, incarcerate them or if they’re so dumb then they’ll continue to pad the pockets of the rich by not having the thinking ability to free themselves from the matrix. They will continue to mix lattes at Starbucks, flip burgers at McDonald’s, have poor credit and further enrich some elitist shit by paying outrageous interest rates on loans for furniture and shit. Their FICO score will never improve and they’ll always get a rotten deal and that is a win-win for the establishment. All done by design, Sojourner, all done by design!

  1. Teach so your students think for themselves? What a concept!

Tubularsock taught for 131/2 years using that concept before Common Core, No Child Left Behind and all that crap. But even back in the day the administration and school board were on my back the entire time.

Tubularsock has always loved to swim up stream so it was fun but I was always being threatened with being fired but my students always did well so they never was able to shut me up.

In todays environment I’d just start my own school …….. fuck’em

  2. It’s all bullshit, as you know all too well. In particular, all of this shit that an education system was never intended to fix. How in the hell can busing and schools solve the problem of mistrust and hatred between races? It was always bullshit, but Mericans are so fucking stupid, they go with the flow.

Like you, I bet, I considered my classroom my domain, I was the king, as far as the administration and school board, etc, were concerned. I was concerned ONLY with giving my students what they came to me for, music info and ‘how to’.

In today’s ‘educational’ environment, if I had children, they would never enter a public school of any kind, they would be homeschooled.

I knew there was a reason why I felt like I needed to stand on a chair, when I proclaim, Captain, my Captain;-)

“Tubularsock has always loved to swim up stream…”

Me too, my friend. I never cared much for where the crowd was going, since the crowd were sheep-like assholes who ahted me, and I them! I still say that god damn bird dropped me off on the wrong fucking planet;-)!!!

    Thanks for the comment!

  3. I am so sorry, Shelby. Without going into detail, I understand your predicament, because it is very much like mine. I commented on one of Tube’s posts, the other day, that you, he, Toritto, and a couple of friends here, keep me sane and going.

We (all three of us) can do it this way, together! And maybe this way, right now, is the most effective way to get something done? Maybe? Hopefully?

Don’t keep this all in. I’m here, if you need to talk or even vent!
