“Anti-Russian Rhetoric”

“The BBC and other media have been framing programming and slanting news to create anti-Russian feeling. The counter-narrative, that the US/UK/NATO are the aggressors, is never heard in western media but when evidence to substantiate the counter-narrative is shown, on say RT (Russia’s main English language media outlet), it is dismissed as propaganda. The naive assumption we’ve been trained to adopt is that our own government always tells the truth and foreigners always lie – facts play little part in the debate.”

Anti-Russian Rhetoric

Published on Saturday, 05 November 2016

The popular narrative of the fall of the Soviet Union and the Berlin Wall is that US style democracy won the Cold War – no matter that everything is connected and nothing in geopolitics happens by accident. But myths, narratives and counter-narratives aside; what was this popular demand for “democracy”? What is US democracy?

Coming to the current anti-Russian propaganda, is Putin’s ambition world domination? Nothing in his words or Russia’s deeds suggest this.

Europe Beware: Russian Slavers On the March! by Phil Butler

The headline read “Lithuania issues updated Russian invasion advice booklets”. This author’s thoughts immediately returned to a “duck and cover” film they showed us in El Paso, Texas when I was in the 2nd grade. These pesky Russians, simply will not give up in their quest for world domination! But wait, wait just one minute…

The BBC and other media have been framing programming and slanting news to create anti-Russian feeling. The counter-narrative, that the US/UK/NATO are the aggressors, is never heard in western media but when evidence to substantiate the counter-narrative is shown, on say RT (Russia’s main English language media outlet), it is dismissed as propaganda. The naive assumption we’ve been trained to adopt is that our own government always tells the truth and foreigners always lie – facts play little part in the debate.

Evil Russian Propaganda From The Evil Russian Invaders by Craig Murray

The BBC World Service was founded by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and funded by them directly for six decades, until a cosmetic change last year. Its specific purpose is to spread British values and the British view of the world abroad. It specifically, on its dozens of different national services, gives an opportunity to dissident voices who cannot get on their mainstream media. The Americans spend hundreds of millions annually on outfits like RFE/RL to do the same. Yet when the Russians do precisely the same thing on a much smaller scale, for example by enabling you to listen to me, this is portrayed as evil propaganda.

But in the final analysis there is only one objective in this elaborate game of narrative and counter-narrative and one major beneficiary. The same beneficiaries who’ve profited from all wars since Waterloo. And as long as we keep dividing on tribal lines, they will continue to profit until they have driven civilisation into the ground. But if we open our eyes and ears to stand up as humans, their power evaporates.
