“Video: Comedian Bill Hicks on Burning the Flag”

Imagine, for a moment, you’re reading an article about Nazi Germany. And at one point in the article, you read that a few Germans had been harassed, beaten and imprisoned for burning the German flag. How do you think you would respond to this? Would you think to yourself, “These people had it coming for desecrating the German flag!” or would you think to yourself, “The German people were worried about a flag, a damn piece of cloth, when their government was being used to wage war on Europe and had killed millions of people?”

If you chose the latter, then you now know why I could give a shit less about the American flag being burned. The elite-swine owned and operated U.S. Corporation has been harassing, imprisoning, torturing, raping, pillaging and mass murdering hundreds of thousands of men, women and children, all around the planet, since world war two. And my only concern is to be centered on a completely meaningless colored piece of cloth being burned?

I think not!

I know not!

Human lives, Mr and Ms American, are more sacred than a fucking colored piece of cloth! In fact, why would anyone, in their right mind, place such a sacred value on a mere piece of cloth to begin with, a cloth which represents nothing but insane greed, power, slavery, war, death and destruction?

It’s like a ride in an amusement park and when you go on it you think it’s real, because that’s how powerful our minds are. The ride goes up and down, round and round, it has thrills and chills, and it’s very brightly colored and it’s very loud. And it’s fun for a while. Some have been on the ride a long time and they begin to question: Is this real, or is this just a ride? And others have remembered and they come back to us and they say: Hey, don’t be afraid ever, because this is just a ride. And we kill those people.

Shut him up, I’ve got a lot invested in this ride, shut him up. Look at my furrows of worry, my big bank account, and my family. This has to be real. It’s just a ride, but we always kill those good guys who try to tell us that and let the demons run amok. But it doesn’t matter because it’s just a ride and we can change it anytime we want. No job, no savings money, just a choice right now between fear and love.

– Bill Hicks 1961-1994

With all the hyperventilating about flag burning going on today as a result of a Trump tweet —

“Nobody should be allowed to burn the American flag – if they do, there must be consequences – perhaps loss of citizenship or year in jail!”

Let’s revisit the timeless wisdom of Bill Hicks. (video is one minute-plus)

{Sojourner note: the deceased dad did not die for the flag, nor did he die for the freedom to burn the flag, he died for one thing only, the safety and security of the capitalist elite-swines’ ready-reserves!}

Now here’s a another Hicks classic in case you missed it:

  1. I like the Hicks video more than that other video by that Canuck who lives in Japan. The message is essentially the same, but Hicks is more succinct and a whole lot funnier.

But yeah, fuck your patriotism. Fuck everyone’s patriotism. Fuck your tribe, too. Who says we don’t ALL belong together? TOGETHER. US against the fucktards among us, but otherwise against NO ONE. Anyway, something like that is what I mean’t to say . . .

    Hicks is forever!

(I’m puzzled about the anti- Darwinianism, however. Hmm. But that’s for another time, because I don’t have time at the moment. . . but hopefully we can have and involved and evolving discussion about it at some time, Dave. 😉 )

  2. I’m not a big fan of Corbett either (The Canuck), but it just so happened that he was talking about the very subject I had posted this on.

I actually added his video after I published it today.

We talked about Chucky D’s problem a while back. We just see it differently.

I tried to become a believer in his religion years ago, but like Christianity, he turned out to be a false savior, a fraud.

Nothing has ever altered this for me. But others are free to believe as they wish.

I need to stop bringing this subject up in my posts. I have written enough that folks should know where I stand on the issue, and why.

As far as a discussion on it, I have had these discussions with others over the years, and it always leads to nowhere. I simply do not believe, just like I don’t believe in the Genesis tale. Simple as that.
