Many on the ‘upwardly mobile’ left believe white working class people have ‘red necks’ and no opinions whatsoever, except for those given them by republicans. Whereas, I see the very opposite to be the case: neoliberals’ opinions have been foisted on them by their neoliberal politicians and other talking heads, while out of work and angry working class whites, more and more, trust no one on the left, middle or right.
I was raised in a blue collar home, in a blue collar neighborhood. The way white working class people are portrayed isn’t much different from how blacks were portrayed in early twentieth century movies and novels.
I believe working class whites (‘rednecks’) are beginning to finally wake up!
